Try Our Computer Monitor Visors or Hoods to correct glare problems or to replace underachieving glare screens
Monitor Hood MVA Visors - Premium Monitor Hood with extra large bezel for CAD, Publishing, Graphics and other visually demanding tasks.
PREMIUM MVA Hoods

Monitor Hood MVB1421 - Monitor Visor for moderate glare problems and increased privacy

ECONOMY MVB Visors

The premium MVA Anti Glare Computer Monitor Visor is a more effective glare reduction system than glare screens or filter devices in many cases.  Our MVA monitor hoods are state of the art design with extra-deep bezels. MVA Anti Glare Computer Monitor visors are an absolute necessity for CAD, printing, publishing, web design, graphics and other work where computer operators must maintain intense visual focus on the monitor for extended periods of time.

Monitor hoods can effectively eliminate symptoms associated with Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) for many intensive data entry workers.  We think our computer monitor visors are simply better than overpriced glare screens that fit in front of the screen.  Many find that glare screens actually increase CVS symptoms!  If it seems like you are having eye problems or your glare screen is not doing the job, an effective visor may be all that is needed.

For glare and reflections appearing toward the top area of the monitor, the value priced MVB visor can be a solid solution.  Yes, the MVB is also appropriate for use on LCD monitors.

MVA monitor visors are the complete solution for glare prone environments.
MVB monitor visors provide glare reduction for less serious glare problems.

READ THE FACTS BELOW TO UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU HAVE BEEN MISSING.
  • Our visors enhance perception of colors and saturation—they allow the monitor to perform as designed
  • Our monitor hoods have black interiors to absorb even more light, ensuring optimal screen viewing
  • Our hoods will reduce eyestrain and the symptoms of Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS) for many users
  • When inconvenient to control overhead lighting, create a small, dark viewing area for monitors with these visors
  • If you need to see more accurate renditions of color and image, our hoods are usually the best answer
  • A monitor hood will increase privacy for the user; our MVA visors meet privacy requirements for HIPAA
  • Our economy MVB visors are lightweight and appropriate for use on flat screen and LCD monitors

From the Federal Aviation Administration:
"The following measures shall be taken to avoid glare from artificial light sources:

  • Locate light sources so that they do not shine...within 60 degrees of the center of the visual field
  • If additional lighting is needed, use dim light sources rather than bright ones
  • Use polarized light, shields, hoods, lens, diffusers, or visors.*
  • Use indirect lighting where possible...."

WHY GLARE SCREENS AND FILTERS DON'T WORK VERY WELL.
  • Every glare screen reduces the luminance (light) emitted by every monitor.  Period. End Of Discussion!
  • To compensate for lost luminance, users overdrive the CRT with higher beam currents, decreasing monitor life
  • Higher beam currents also make the phosphors glow larger and make the image softer and less crisp
  • Glare screens perform very poorly at reducing specular (like strong single source reflections from a light bulb) glare
Based on research by the National Academy of Sciences for the Department of the Navy, results showed that the light (luminance) emitted from CRT monitors was lost at an alarming rate when glare screens were used (testing 7 different styles of glare screens--including several circular polarizing screens). Luminance (on average) was reduced from 115 cd/square meter to 34 cd/square meter! This result was obtained by placing the different glare screens over a smooth finish monitor in a dark room.

OUR VISORS WORK ON MANY LCD MONITORS, FLAT SCREEN DISPLAYS, TV SETS AND VIDEO MONITORS.
  • We recommend hoods wherever flat screen and LCD displays are hampered by excessive light
  • Use our visors at point-of-purchase displays, with x-ray film viewers, x-ray view boxes, or x-ray illuminators
  • The depth of our MVA monitors increases computer screen privacy dramatically in high security applications
  • Use our hoods for television glare in settings with harsh light (if reduced viewing angles are acceptable)
  • Yes, we provide custom solutions to meet your specific applications
  • Remember that visors reduce viewing angles and only those sitting in front of the monitor will see the entire image
